Stockholm, Sweden Tuesday, 3 June 2025
Industry leaders Verisec and Thales bring together cybersecurity experts and payment professionals at the historic Berns Salonger in Stockholm to discuss “The Evolution of Payment Cryptography.” The morning event arrives at a critical time, just weeks after Sweden experienced a prolonged DDoS attack that disrupted digital services nationwide. Similar incidents in Spain and Portugal, where a massive power outage halts key digital infrastructure, including payments, set the stage for a timely conversation on securing the financial systems of tomorrow.
The event opens with a welcome from Anders Henrikson, CEO of Verisec and Stefan Lundgren, Nordics Channel Director of Thales, followed by sessions that dive into the current state and future direction of payment cryptography. Aidan Corcoran, Verisec’s payment cryptography expert, provides a crucial PCI update, while Stefano Pizzera, Global Sales Director of Verisec, introduces advanced key management strategies and Verisec’s “Follow the Sun” support approach. Shailes Nanda, Sales Engineer from Thales, then takes the stage to address modern threats to digital infrastructure, demonstrating Imperva’s capabilities in mitigating DDoS and bot attacks – a subject freshly relevant in the wake of recent cyber incidents.
A special moment comes with a keynote from Par Holmberg, Associate Professor and Research Fellow at The Research Institute of Industrial Economics, who analyses the Iberian blackout and shares insights on preventing similar crises in interconnected systems.
The conversation returns to explore the implications of quantum computing on cryptographic security and explains the features of the 10XPAY Payment Cryptography as a Service.
Another high time of the event is when Varg Gyllander, senior crisis management advisor, reframes technical disruptions like a bank service or an electricity outage as communication stress tests, emphasizing the fragility of hyperconnected societies and the urgent need for systemic resilience. Through his methods, Gyllander underscores the need for appropriate communication in preventing misinformation and maintaining public trust during crises.
Attendees also witness live demonstrations of Verisec’s 10XPAY and Thales’s Imperva, followed by collaborative discussions over lunch. With technical insights, real-world case studies, and a focus on resilience in an increasingly demanding digital landscape, “The Evolution of Payment Cryptography” is an event series with several rounds in Europe, Middle East and beyond.
